Pasi Edukkuthu.!!!

The usual preamble- I'm posting after a long time (duh!). Reason- I've been in a very major accident which almost took my soul to the heaven's gate. Maybe God was not expecting me then so He put me back down to earth. He gave me a second life. Im so thankful to Him to have given my life back. At the hospital for a month, at home for another. Been through a lot physically and mentally. I'm confused as to why God has designed my fate to shuffle between the extremes. He made me recover so fast that surprised the doctors. May be for someone who has been in the same accident I've been in, he would need 3 months bed rest at the minimum. I was OK in just 2. Maybe that's God's way of balancing equations. I'm OK now but it takes a little more time for certain injuries to heal.

Two months off office was a little sombre. Apart from the usual work, office was always fun. There was one very good friend of mine who never lets you know the rush of time when you're with him. We had a lot of good time together. It was one afternoon when i called him for lunch through my office communicator and he gave me a weird reply which gave birth to the song Pasi Edukkuthu. The lyrics just bloomed over our funny chat and the lyrics was so funny that we wanted to make a song out of it. I composed it using FL Studio. Please listen to it and leave your comments.

My encounter with a star!!!

The below pictures might give you a bit of a surprise and makes you raise your brows asking "How!!?" :P
Read on to know how and where I met him..

Your friends and team mates would be as much happy as you are on your birthday only for one reason- Treat! Treating someone on his/her special occasion has become a custom now. My team had asked for a combined treat from everyone who had their birthdays last month. And also during the recent appraisal process, people who have been promoted were on the list as well. So all together, there were 11 victims for the day!

After intense research, we decided on Aloft, Sholinganallur. The hotel was really good with its ambiance and atmosphere so pleasing (It had to be! cuz its a 4 star hotel!!). While we were scoffing with our complete concentration on the food, there were commotion and camera flashes all of a sudden. As we were lost in gulping down scrumptious food, we took our eyes off the plate wanting to know who it was. To our surprise, its one of the leading actors in Bollywood Mr. Amir Khan with his family and two bodyguards. As i went forward to take few snaps, his bodyguards stopped me asking me to give him some privacy take pics after he dines.

As people started to throng towards Amir wanting to take a snap with him, the hotel officials moved him to another private spot which was on the other side of where we were dining. Though we were able to see him we couldn't go near him as his bodyguards stood there as barricades. I think some girl from my team spoke with one of the bodyguards and expressed her wish to take a snap with him and she was asked to wait till he dines.

After all it wasn't an excuse he gave to dine peacefully but he did spend some time to take few pics with him though he had to go for a shoot that night. Everyone who came there for dinner got something to put up/brag about on Facebook- "Me with Amir Khan!!" My intention of taking a pic with him was for the same reason as I'm not a big fan of his but like him as an amazing actor.

There would've been a fight between me and the bodyguards if it was A.R.Rahman instead of Amir. I'm pretty sure I would've done anything to have a chat with him, take a pic with him and to get an autograph from him. And that not for showing it off to friends but as a simple wish of a big big fan of his. I wish i get an opportunity like this with superstar Rahman next time. ;-)

In the pic: That's me and my team mates with Bollywood star Amir.

Tick tock on the clock!

It seems like just a couple of months since i joined Cognizant but the reality surprises me- Its been almost a year and a half. Time seems to fly in the blink of eye that most of the beautiful things in life have the air of being missed. The run of time is descried at some instances in life like when you skim through a marriage album your work didn't allow you to attend, looking at some of it you exclaim "He's grown up so fast! He was just a kid when I last saw him;" "Oh, She is no more? When did she pass away?;" "What? He is married now?" "Who is she? Wasn't he married to another............. so on.

I've been always curious to know the reason why time runs so fast. I rescheduled my calender and gave priority to "analysis of the run of time" over "day dreaming." To understand it better, I'd broken down the analysis into smaller parts- from hours to years. (Disclosure: I'm not so good at math. If the figures are wrong........ Well...... huh.... don't mind. Just read on!!)

24 hours makes a day in which I work for 9 hours. It takes 4 hours for traverse, to and fro. Which is 9+4=13 beautiful hours is eaten up every single day. The rest 11 hours is further eaten up in 7 hours of sleeping. That give out a residue of just 4 hours everyday and that is been used to gear up to another day of oblivion.

7 days makes a week and the above said routine goes on for another 5 days that leaves 2 days in a week- weekends. (Wow! Just getting my tongue around the word "weekend" gives me all smiles.) Now after going through 4 hours-left-over-fun shitty routine, weekend appears longer. But not long enough to enjoy. Saturdays and Sundays appear just to let me know that I'm still alive. It makes me wanna earnestly beseech God to make weekends have 42 hours each. Life seems like a drag when you were asked to slog even on Saturdays!! Weekends run like a flow of water. So fast, so quick!!

One thing which buck me up when broadening the analysis on months is for that one day which will make any employee super happy- salary day!! This reminds me of a forward mail in which a picture, relating to the tale of the tortoise and rabbit, depicts how "money comes in like tortoise and goes out like rabbit." That's true in a way. We patiently wait for the end of the month, for that one day which makes us feel that we are rich (as the above quote describes, it doesn't take too long for the money to fritter away!!)

As this sequence of the above said is unvaryingly followed throughout the year, and summing it all up:

24 hours - 9hours slogging - 4 hours travelling - 7hours snoozing = 4hours/day. [4 of 24hours]
4hours x 5days/week = 20 hours/week excl. weekends. [20 of 120 hours]
20hours x 4weeks/month = 80hours/month excl. weekends. [80 of 480hours]
80hours x 12months/year = 960hours/year excl. weekends. [960 of 5760hours]
That means I get only 40/240 days time to rejoice in a year?? What would you practically do with that?

Everyday we wait for the day to end; everyday we wait for the week to end; every week we wait for the month end, for salary; and every month we wait for the year to end, for a hike/promotion/etc. And then i realised that it was i/me/myself who wanted the time to run fast so that i could rejoice my 40/240 days a year!! I would've mentioned in most of my posts that i will have to balance my work life with my personal life and though it sounds easy, there is a minute barrier which stops me and projects out the barrier like a great wall of China! And its pretty obvious that for someone to write a post like this wouldn't have had the ability to balance his work life with his personal. Well, there is time and I'm gonna start utilising my 40/240 days/year to think of how to get things straight and gonna spend as much time as i can, if possible (is this the barrier??)!! ;-)

The quote i just came across while writing this post. Sounded apt to this so putting it up:

WE ARE NOT HUMAN BEINGS GOING THROUGH A TEMPORARY SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE.
WE ARE SPIRITUAL BEINGS GOING THROUGH A TEMPORARY HUMAN EXPERIENCE.

She is the best in the world!!!

Today is one of the days to honour the person responsible for your existence. Mother is the reason for what you are and who you are. Not very often do we think of gifting something to our mom until its her birthday (and not very often do we think of writing a post about how wonderful of a person your mom is! :P). Mother's day has been a day to commemorate motherhood and has been an occasion to make her "extra" happy. I bought my mom a party handbag and made her that "extra" happy. (Well, bigger the earnings, bigger the gifts! I wish i get a salary hike!!!) I usually surprise her by keeping the gift in the kitchen (a place where every mother's day starts!!) so that when she wakes up in the morning and goes to kitchen, the joy she gets when she sees gift wrapped up all good with her name on it, and the moment of excitement when she opens it up, its just priceless! Never give your mom a moment to frown but make her smile forever with joy!

Happy mothers day to all!!!

Rebecca Black's Friday- The top of all!!!!

For the past two weeks, the top trending topic on the web has been Rebecca Black and her hit single Friday. The track has gone viral over the net and has become an overnight sensation. Its video has 110 million clicks on YouTube and both Black and Ark Music, its record label, had received $20,000 from YouTube's revenue-sharing program. The song was No.39 last week and its jumped to 19 on iTunes chart. It also entered the Billboard Hot 100 at number 72 and rose to 58 the following week. The song is considered as one of the Hot 100 songs. So what's so special about this song? The song has gained universal popularity...... negatively!! Yes, the song is considered as the "Worst song ever" on YouTube and received harsh reviews and responses. The offbeat lyrics in the song makes it sound eccentric and exasperated almost everyone who saw/heard the video/song. Even me. The song is 'loved to hate' by people on the net. Numerous parody videos have been uploaded on YouTube that making a parody video of it has become a trend. After the song gained much popularity, ABC TV went to interview Rebecca Black. After the initial congratulatory wishes, Andrea Channing, the interviewer, started off by asking how she felt about the harsh comments that people have given for her song and also read out few jarring comments right at her face for which Black was a little emotionally shaken, of course. But she was bold enough to respond that she do not care about the harsh comments and that she took things positively. "Friday is the worst song ever that even dead people are complaining" was one of the comments. Black, in the interview, said that the worst comment she came across was "I hope you cut yourself and I hope you get an eating disorder so you’ll look pretty, and I hope you go cut yourself and die…" After stating this, she expressed her wish to sing a duet with Canadian singer Justin Bieber. LOL!

American Idol former judge Simon Cowel, who is familiar for his blunt, sarcastic comments, has recently commented that he likes her as a person who has gotten so much publicity in just one week. He also expressed his wish of wanting to meet her.

Me thinks that for a song to top the chart (or at least sound listenable) all the elements of the song has to be given equal importance- voice, lyrics, music and all other technical aspects. The song fail to impress the audience if even one of the elements just mentioned is not up to the mark. Friday lyrics are so hilarious and she was crowned as the "lyrical genius" in few social networking sites. The excessive use of auto tune work in the song left a question in the listeners mind wheather Black is really a singer. To check how her voice would sound without auto tune, Channing, in her interview, asked Black to sing Friday without the aid of auto tune. She was not bad after all. Rebecca sensed her intention and responded that she is "not the best singer but also not the worst singer."

I hope her next song is a "good" Friday! :P

PS: I've been writing this post for a week now since I haven't found much time to finish it off at once. So this post is a week old and hence few information in the post may vary. :P

A stupid black mark on my index finger...

If its every citizen's duty to participate in the decision making that happens every five years, then count me in. I cast my vote today despite knowing the fact that its not gonna make any difference. All i needed was a mark in my finger to prove that i have done my duty as a citizen. I must mention that I was lucky to have my name in the polling register cuz there were few people who fought a losing battle with the authorities as their names were not in the list. Eventually they exited the way they entered cursing both the authorities and the politicians. Too bad that the EVM does not have an option for a blank vote. If it had, i guess half of all the votes would've been a blank vote. The other half, of course, would've been casted to any politician whose bribe amount per vote rate scaled up. My facebook status for the day was this

"Do I have to vote for the prosperity of the already opulent politicians or for the attractive inducements they've promised?? Cuz I don't see an option to vote for the good of our country!!"

As soon as i updated my facebook status, one of my friends commented on it asking me to cast my vote under 49-O. 49-O is a rule which states that a valid voter need not vote if he doesn't want to. Text of the Rule 49-O from wiki

"49-O. Elector deciding not to vote.-If an elector, after his electoral roll number has been duly entered in the register of voters in Form-17A and has put his signature or thumb impression thereon as required under sub-rule (1) of rule 49L, decided not to record his vote, a remark to this effect shall be made against the said entry in Form 17A by the presiding officer and the signature or thumb impression of the elector shall be obtained against such remark."

He believed that if the majority of the vote is a blank vote, which is 49-O, then the contending parties will be disqualified and the state will be under the Governor's rule for six months. And after six months, election will again be announced but with new candidates. I made him understand that whatever he believed was just hoax. He suggested me to vote under 49-O but little did he know about the fact that the EVM does not have an option for people to cast vote under section 49-O and to do so, the individual must inform the presiding officer about his/her disinclination to vote.

The election period is the time when the rivalry between the ruling party and the opposition party reveals more truth about all politicians. During the election campaign, all that is needed for a politician is a mike, henchmen to extol him and some liquor to start a verbal attack on other politicians. Me thinks that a special drug is formed when liquor and enthusiastic praises mix so well that would make any politician high enough to blast about anyone. For instance 'Karuppu MGR' Vijayakanth can be taken as an example. I assume that most of them would've known about how Vijayakanth campaigns as it was "flash news" on Sun TV and Kalaignar TV. Check out how Vijayakanth blabbers, how Vijayakanth loses cool and thrashes his own candidate and an angry Vijayakanth.

If Vijayakanth has a serious drinking problem Vadivelu, Sarathkumar, Kushboo, Singamuthu and others have different problems. Everyone seems to have taken election campaigning as an opportunity to blast their competitor in their respective fields. Its also fun to watch their cheap way of fighting live on television. Thanks to the media.

The video clip that was recently telecasted on Kalaignar TV as a video campaign that shows two women impersonating  Jayalalitha and Sasikala was the height of cheapness. The clip shows the two maliciously planning to take over the throne and cease all "good deeds" and systems that Kalaignar established followed by clips of Kalaignar arrested, Murasalimaaran laid down after being "attacked" by cops, Shankaracharya arrested etc. The video indirectly conveys a very clear message- "I beg you. Please vote for me."
This is one of the DMK election songs!

It is everyone's duty to vote. If compulsory voting system are brought to effect in which everyone has to vote else they are subjected to punitive measures, I don't think it would make any difference as people would come to vote in mere fear of paying fine or being imprisoned and would not vote for the betterment of the country. Gone are the days when people know nothing about anything. But since we have a very powerful weapon called "Internet" everything is literally in our fingertips. Just a few minutes with the keyboard and everything is right in front of you in your computer screen. Just a few taps on my keyboard and i was able to find these useful sites
About 49-O.
The conduct of election rules.
Everything about our very own politicians.
(and lots of YouTube videos of course!)

I referred Internet as a weapon because it is very useful, but equally harmful. Just imagine that you create a page in facebook that contains "your views" about a politician and one of his staunch followers get to see that and finds you? The chances are very less but do you want to take a chance on that?

People really hope that one day everything will change. But according to me that day never comes. Politicians' blatant fight to take over the throne pretty obviously shows that its not out of their interest to make the country better but to become rich. Rich by swindling lakhs of crores. I think that makes a person more than the word "rich" actually means. Today i cast my vote to yet another craving dog that wants power and money. I cant reveal my vote as it violates the secrecy of the ballot. ;-)
Another five years for another stupid black mark on my index finger...

World Cup 2011- Tigers defeat the Lions.

Words are just not enough to extol India's triumph over Sri Lanka. The match was a rollercoster ride for all cricket fans with their expectancy dancing up and down the scale. I thought that the probability of the Indians winning the match was unthinkably less when the Sri Lankans sweeped the ball off the ground in the last five overs. My hope totally evaporated in the air when Mallinga got rid of both Sewagh and Sachin not very long after the match started. 275 was not an easy score to chase but the Men In Blue played extraordinarily well and made history. It is after 28 years that Indians are lifting up the World Cup and was a proud moment for every Indian. If it wasn't for Ghambir, Kholi, Yuvraj and Dhoni's cautious play, Indians would've missed the chance of lifting the world cup and would've left all cricket fans look on the black side forever. Malinga's boisterous enjoyment when he sent Sewagh and Sachin back to pavilion vanished when Dhoni was to hit 4 runs from 11 balls. Dhoni finished the match with his magic shot- the helicopter shot.

There were moments in between the match when me and my friends were in total despair of winning and the seething anger resulted in switching off the television and went out for a walk to ease off the situation. One of my friends went nuts that he asked us to sit just the way we were sitting when Gambir hit fours so that he will hit fours again. He started swearing and went bonkers when we disobeyed him or disregard his superstitious believes. The plummeting Indian performance made him stroll to a temple in the vicinity and made an intense prayer for like 15 minutes. It was fun to watch his antics.

Overall, the match was as best as it can be with ecstasy and expectations equally mixed up giving out the best result. The whole team, especially Sachin, deserves the cup.

Ever wondered about getting rich (or more richer) in just one night? It happened with the Indian team with all money flowing in and swanky gifts from various sources. Of course, they deserve it all.

One thing that bothers me is the fake cup controversy. When they can award numerous prizes for the team, why isn't it possible for them to give 25 lakh at the clearance and get the original cup? That was a little too unwise. And about "Poonam Pandey daring to strip naked in the Indian team dressing room" matter, all i want to ask her is "Lady, are you nuts?" She must be the whore of the whores to have announced such a disgusting thing (Uhh.. disgusting is a strong word. Hmm.. May be it can be replaced with 'not that good'? LOL!) My personal opinion is that, she can strip naked and get some money for the act without having to announce it publicly (the video will be on the net within hours and the dent in her reputation is all the same!) She must've thought that the stripping-naked-in-the-Indian-team-dressing-room thing would be cool, but she should've thought about how the people in India will take it. I would definitely like to know what Shiv Sena want to say about it? Can we expect a video of her beaten up real bad?

Anyways, My hearty wishes to the Indian team who fought the war well to get what they deserve. Special thanks to Indian team coach Gary Kirsten. The celebration all over India was amazingly wonderful with people bursting crackers with full zeal, people proudly waving the Indian flag and the patriotism factor on the eve of April 2nd was a little too stronger and was good to feel. It was an amazing show after all. Whatsoever, Now that the IPL starts from 8th, all eyes turn to that!

PS: Do not confuse the "Tigers" with the Bangladeshis as they are commonly referred as in cricket. A sensible person can understand whom am I referring as Tigers here in my blog as I'm talking about a match between India and Sri Lanka. I chose to refer Indians as "Tigers" because its our National Animal for God's sake! Duh! (I wrote this postscript because one of my brainy colleague saw the title while i was writing this post and asked if I was writing about a match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Grr.!!)

World Cup 2011- India Vs Pakistan- Magnificent!

Before the match:
The big fuss about the India-Pakistan match seems to be growing every second and the excitement seems to be never ending. Restaurants, lounges, showrooms have all put up LCD displays and projector screens making it possible for everyone to watch the match. Cognizant prevised beforehand that employees will never gonna miss the most significant match of 2011 World Cup and might take an off from work. So they've put up LCD monitors in all cafeterias that telecast Star Sports non stop. Undoubtedly, India-Pakistan match is regarded as the biggest "rivalry" in this World Cup 2011 and is quoted as the "Mother of all matches." The expectancy and eagerness among Indian cricket maniacs and everyone in my company is at its core with everyone checking their watches every 5 minutes wanting it to tick faster. The move was satisfactory as not many in my office took an off because Cognizant has enabled everything to watch the cricket match live. Encouraging the cricket spirit, Indian and Pakistan supporters (there weren't any for Pakistan!) were allowed to wear team jerseys and it was blue everywhere. 1:30pm and the cafeterias were jam packed already. Hope the Men in Blue will not let us down!

During the match:
Even if the building was on fire, people give a damn about it as far as it doesn't interrupt the live telecast. People were glued to their seats; rest were standing and the cafeterias were crammed that for a second it felt like the room was flexible enough to accommodate so many people. Loud hurrahs and roaring was obviously for the Master Blaster whenever he appeared on the screen that could be heard from miles away. I could see people sitting at the edge of their seats watching the match live and parallely praying for India to win. As soon as the match started the excitement meter begins to dance up the scale. People so want Indians to win this match as it was not just a game, it was war! Me thinks that people wont be much gleeful when India wins the World Cup as much as when it defeats Pakistan.

The cheer was loud enough to break the decibel meter when Sehwag comfortably hit each ball across the boundary line. The enthusiasm ceased as soon as Wahab Riaz sent him off the ground. Sachin was lucky enough to hit 85 after four lives until Saeed Ajmal caught the ball. As the match went on, people didn't really like the progression of the game and started to lose hope when Yuvraj Singh went back to pavilion hitting nothing. 260 was a decent score after all. Unfortunately, it wasn't for Pakistan. In the end, People already started bursting crackers and howling around when Pakistanis were to hit 30 runs in 6 balls. Misbah-ul-Haq played really good but it wasn't good enough to win the match. Indians contained it very well and was a great match after all.

After the match:
Celebrations were colorful and for a second, it looked like a festival. Thousands of people jumping and howling on the road as Indians entered into the finals. Crackers went on for so long till it woke up everyone who was sleeping (the oldies!!) Youngsters went around in bike holding the Indian flag celebrating the victory. It all subsided later after 11:30pm.

Hope the Indians defeat Sri Lankans and would win the World Cup 2011. Thankfully, the finals is on Saturday Apr 2nd. Guess everyone will want to watch it with their big friends gang that will make it more exciting and exhilarating. Two days to go and the clock ticks......

One step forward.

Like tides in the sea slowly reaching the shore that subsides into the cold beige sand, today yours truly have steadily but successfully completed one astounding year in one of the world's faster growing companies- Cognizant Technology Solutions (ironic eh? That's what made it to the top!) Completion of one year means that my probation period is over and I'm a permanent employee of Cognizant. Looking back one year behind, there used to be moments of uncertainty in comprehending my future, an unclear vision of what lies ahead. Torrents of question falls on me like freezing rain that each drop of it tore through the pores of my skin for which the answers, again, were insoluble. I'm kind of a person who takes things easy, who thinks the world is not gonna end today and I still have more time left to accomplish any task. Take-it-slow policy is what i follow and it helps me in many ways, though I'm not sure if it helps others. If you had read this post of mine, you would have a picture of what it is for me to be an employee of a company like Cognizant.

Three months of an amazing life in the Cognizant Academy (a place where trainees are technically and professionally groomed) was the best ever. My friends list extended limitlessly when was in the Academy that each and every minute of my stay there was fun. After been put in business unit, things have changed the way it used to be as most of us were scattered across India. The bonding that the Academy groomed between friends were still thick and strong that we'll have a conference at least once a week to update ourselves to know what is happening with each other.

For your office hours to be easy going, your team have to be fun. My new team is much convivial than the previous one and fun to be in for i believe that its the team that really converts one from 'trainees' to 'experienced' and if its not absolute, he is a trainee forever.

There were days when uncertainty prevailed; life had become a question that I felt like walking blindfolded in an already dark place; facing reality had come almost indistinct; when the biggest imperfection in life, being unemployed stuck hard like a bullet, Never really had imagined of myself being in one of the top IT companies in the world as these CMMi level 5 companies weren't in my list in the first place throughout my job hunt during the recession period. But after all, the improbability of me becoming an employee of a well reputed organization apparently wasn’t too big for my boots and I'm proud to be called a Cognizant employee. Hope the upcoming years that lie ahead teaches me lot of stuffs morally and technically that all success comes my way and prosperity prevails.. ;-)

Aadukalam- Otha Sollala (Karaoke)

This is the Karaoke of the latest hit song "Otha Sollala" from the movie 'Aadukalam' composed by yours truly (originally composed by G.V.Prakash). This song was a hit soon after its release. May be because of its "kuthu" genre or Velmurugan's voice or for the composition itself, the song was on the Top 5 hits just few days after its release. When I listened to the song, like everyone else, i liked it too. And after listening it a few times, thought of making a karaoke of it. I composed it using FL Studio 8. I've used the beat samples from the song and made the rest from FL Studio 8. Cutting out a loop from the song wasn't difficult for me, but to cut out loops without vocals was pretty tough. So I cut the basic beat sample into different slices using Edison and placed it appropriately to make it sound original. When you hear the "Onnu Sollaama Usuradhottaaya Manasa Inike Vachha Seenum Ittaaya.." line, the beat you hear was sliced up into many pieces and patched up together to sound like original (In the original song, you can hear the vocals over the beat and its kinda impossible to separate both).

Like I usually say, I've tried my best in replicating the original song by making a karaoke of it. Please listen to the track and give your valuable comments and feedback.

IDentity!

There used to be a time when a guy falls for a girl and if he wants to know about her- her name, where she lives, her profession, her phone number etc, the guy probably have to exert himself vigorously in finding at least one of the listed above. If you and the girl you're dotting on are working in an IT company, things are simpler. From busting your gut to know her name, today all you have to worry about knowing is her Employee ID. From just a click of a button, you behold her complete profile right on your computer screen. There is this friend of mine who fell for a girl and even before logically being curious to know her name, he was more curious to know her employee id. For a moment i was stumped considering the ease of the situation. Well, one has to be. Just a six figure number (differs!) called an employee id can give you information about anyone in an organization. Name, phone number (very important!), business address, home address, email id, her job title and what not? Now that every company has a chat application, the primary move of approaching a girl becomes more easier. PING! Hi. -Hi. Im...blah blah blah. To dig a little more into her personal profile, there is always Facebook, global database for people's information. Like trying to know her employee id, in Facebook, its all about worrying whether she accepts your friends request or not. Accepting friends requests is access to her personal stuffs. You get to know more about her- like her friends, or whether you both have any common friends, her interests, her hobbies, her latest photos (you can save it and drool over!!) etc. Getting to know each other has become as easy as falling off a log.

It was long back when you fall for a girl, talk to her, get to know her, understand each other, and everything seems like a long process. Today, things are made very simpler by 'social networking,' a concept that is followed in almost every organization for a better rapport and for easier communication between employees. Its good that it also serves as an intimacy notion. LOL! Whatsoever, Making a girl fall for you does require a special wooing skill that people like me are not really blessed with!! *Heaves*

Zzzz Grrrrs!!

I think i will be able to turn the sky green; I think i will be able to walk on water; I think will be able to sneeze with my eyes wide open; I think i will be able to do everything what Rajinikanth could; except for one thing- getting up in the morning and jog. On the contrary, there is one guy in my office who never misses jogging every morning, no matter what. I tried to be 'him' for just one day and had set alarm at three consecutive time around 5 am, with a hope that it might wake me up. No. Even the repeated raucous hooting of the alarm failed in walking me up. Kept snoozing the alarm every time it rang and resumed my sleep. I'm still not able to find out if its my mind that automatically tells me to snooze the alarm or my hand, unconscious to my senses, gropes for the clock and shuts its off. There was this one time when i was so close to accomplishing my task. I woke up every 2 hours to check if its 5am and then dozed off when it actually was. I need to invent something that wakes me up in the morning, something like a clock that sprays cold water on face instead of ringing (I wonder not even if I wipe the water off my face and resume my sleep!)

Its been a routine for me to get up at 6 in the morning and do the brushing-bathing-dressing-eating in one hour and catch the bus at 7. Now to wind the clock needle back one hour than the usual time might take a little long to take effect. I wonder how longer would that 'long' be??

Tsunami in Japan.

The news was a bombshell when one of my friends told me about the massive earthquake that destroyed most of Japan. 8.9-magnitude earthquake shook Japan erupting a violent tsunami. It was so powerful that it sent ships crashing to the shore. I read in the news that the water level was equivalent to the small houses in Japan and the it engulfed most of it. Its discovered that the earthquake was Japan's largest in 140 years. Russia and Indonesia, Central American countries like Guatemala, El Salvador and Costa Rica and the U.S. state of Hawaii were all hit by it in the late afternoon today. The causalities count is not yet announced but after a forceful tsunami that washed most of Japan, the count is expected to be a little high. People are in shock across the globe after hearing the news and all TV channels are busy updating latest news from Japan. It was found that the tsunami hit Tokyo the most, one of the 47 prefectures in Japan, having a population of 30 million people. Authorities said that another tsunami is expected to hit in a few hours. When i was searching the latest news about the incident, there was tsunami alerts in Google home page warning people that another tsunami is expected because of the shock wave that the earthquake in Japan caused. This is a terrifying news to everyone and i wish that the impending tsunami just sink into the earth and NEVER erupts.

Cognizant's Doosra

As India is a country of cricket fanatics, Cognizant has introduced a new fantasy cricket game called Doosra to boost the World Cup fever among employees. The game has been designed by Cognizant employees to knock off employee work pressure (?) with a little bit of fun. Doosra will be active for the entire duration of World cup and to login to Doosra, you should be a Cognizant employee (or have a Cognizant employee's login credentials!) For someone like me, who is not much into cricket, Doosra will make a difference. People in Cognizant seem hooked to the game that they keep talking about it all the time. Doosra is more like predicting the possibilities of winning or losing a game. It has two play modes: Super 11 and My Team. To begin with, every player will be provided with a minimum points in each play mode. It is the employee's way of playing the game that would double, triple or make it 10 times the minimum points provided. There will be a fixed amount of 1100 points in Super 11 that will be given to each player for every match and the player has to select 11 players from two teams that are playing the match as per the fixtures. The player has to apportion the 1100 points among the 11 chosen players and a star player (from the 11) has to be chosen. Depending upon the runs scored, wickets taken etc, the player will be awarded points. Points are awarded based on the points the player has given to each of the 11 players. Suppose if a player has chosen Sachin Tendulkar among the 11 players and have awarded 200 points from the 1100 basic points, and if Sachin has scored 100 runs in that particular match, then the 200 is multiplied with 100 runs + bonus points for every 25th, 50th, 75th and 100th run and if he is chosen as the star player, the final value is tripled. Hence the 11 players has to be cautiously chosen and the 1100 initial points has to be cautiously assigned.

For My Team play mode, the player has to place a bet on one of the two teams that plays the match that day. The player will be provided with 5000 initial points and the player will be awarded 1000 points everyday. For example, if its between India and Pakistan, the player can place the bet on either India or Pakistan. Similar to Super 11, the points are multiplied depending upon the bet. If the player bets all the points on a team, the points are quadrupled and if the team loses, the player loses all his points; If the player bets more than 50% of the bet, the points are doubled and if the team loses, the player loses only the percentage of the bet he had placed on the team.

Doosra has become an obsession among all Cognizant employees. When Doosra was introduced, the number of Doosra players increased every minute and now has around 45k players. If you have a question of what is gained from the game, well, its just mere fun and that the winners will win "exciting prizes." Though Doosra players were given weekly prizes for the top players, I hope the grand prize is gotta be really "exciting".

Very recently Doosra team have added two new features to the site- Silly Points and Tweets. Tweet is something everyone knows in this day and age (for the ones who doesnt know, its an exchange of short messages among individuals; social networking!) Silly Points has the statistics of the winners, losers, bets, highest score etc.

Its really fun to have such a game and I sincerely appreciate Doosra developers to have brought such an amazing game to all Cognizant employees. I had bet all my points on England in the England VS Ireland match and lost all my points. Not just me, 98% of the employees have lost their bet on England. After all, Circket is a funny game. You never know what will happen! Looking forward to win all other matches and I hope I would win that "exciting prize." ;-)

Here are some screen shots of Doosra:

Happy Women's Day!!

[From Wiki] International Women's Day (IWD), originally called International Working Women’s Day is marked on March 8 every year. Nowadays this is a major day of global celebration of women. In different regions the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration for women's economic, political and social achievements. In many regions, the day lost its political flavour, and became simply an occasion for men to express their love for women in a way somewhat similar to a mixture of Mother's Day and St Valentine's Day.

TRAIs "100 sms per day" is a dumb rule.

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has announced a nonsensical regulatory restricting mobile phone users to send only 100 sms per day. This has to be one of the stupidest move by TRAI. Authorities say that they have to introduce this rule so as to "cease" telemarketing people from sending bulk message on free jobs, free PAN services and stuff. In this state-of-the-art world, who would come up with such a dumb idea of restricting 100 sms/day to everyone in India just cuz a bunch of telemarketing muttonheads sends bulk sms? Well, TRAI does!

I always had a strong dislike for the radio that plays in my office bus cuz it would not let me sleep as the RJs incessantly prattle on some random shit right into my ears. This news wasnt a 'random shit' after all. (Info: Now, I learnt the art of sleeping even when the radios play next to my ears in full volume! LOL!) Since i have to sleep bearing RJs constant blabber waves flowing through my ears, my mind makes a dream out of RJs indiscreet talk! To be honest, I was startled from my sleep without my knowledge when this news gushed into my ears! All i had to say about the news was: "IT'S INSANE!"

I wonder how the thousands of people, who are blessed with a girlfriend in their life, would feel. Since im not very fortunate on that part, everything is the same to me except for one thing- that i wont be able to send Rahman updates to my friends! Texting has become a dope to all college goers and something with a rule like this, would defenitely dishearten them. Imagine how would you feel when you were so close in making a girl fall in love with you with the contemporary cupid weapon "text messaging" (Booster package. Of course!) and you were deprived from sending free messages?

To serve steadfastly in sending Rahman updates to my fellow friends, i called the Vodafone Customer Care to confirm the news. They said that the TRAI's rule has not been effectuated on Vodafone as yet and that they will let their customers know if it does. I also happened to come across some forums on the internet where the discussion on the TRAI subject concluded by someone stating that the TRAI took back the 100 sms rule. There is also a Facebook page called "Take back the rule of 100sms a day" opposing TRAIs witless rule.

It makes sense if they come up with something else to stop telemarketing bulk sms rather than this. Hope TRAI realises how stupid it is and take back the rule. Looking forward to what is gonna happen..

A Special Post.

Today is one of the most significant day in the history of mankind. Wonder why? Its the birthday of the most influential, passionate, deterministic, vivid and most promising person on earth. The one who defines the power of human existence. The man who is admired for his courage and numerous accomplishments; The man who could turn the world upside down; The man with copious feat; An oomph booster that Jonny Depp has to lick his shoes!; Master of the Masters; Legend of the Legends. Wonder who I'm extolling here? Well, its none other than yours truly. LOL! Yes, Today is my birthday and it went great. Birthdays are just another day if there are no family and friends around. Friends may seem annoying sometimes but it doesn't take much time to realise the bliss out of their annoyance. It used be our custom to go to birthday boy's home, ringing the bell at night 12 o clock with a cake in hand singing the birthday song when he opens the door and smashing the cake on his face. Since all my friends were scattered across different parts of India, the custom was knocked off. Still, their calls at sharp 12 made me feel very happy and also made me hit the bed very late at night.

Though you have many customs among your friends group, there is one universal custom among all friends across the globe which is known as- "treat!" (not sure if it applies for girls since money spending is something which they've never done before, unless its for them!) Treat can simply be defined as- An occasion camouflaging bankruptcy for the one treating you! Treat is a unique way of celebrating birthday in which you take friends to a good restaurant in town, treat them with whatever they like and make them strong enough for them to kick your ass. Yes, ass kicking is another custom called "birthday bums!" It only happens among friends that you get them good food to eat and get your ass kicked. LOL! That is why birthdays are just another day when there are no friends around!!

I sure have to mention about a special fawning mail I received for my birthday from one of my close friends. The mail was all buttered up with exaggerated flattery words and had some of my funny pictures. It was one of the things that made my day!!

Its 5:50pm and my day was fun till now and hope the rest of the day brings me more surprises. I would like to thank all my friends through this post for remembering and wishing me on my birthday today. I hope this year turns out all good to me and be more prosperous than ever! ;-)

A look at the latest songs.

I read in the newspapers that Superstar A.R.Rahman is not going to take up much projects this year and that he is taking an off from his work! Good for him. May be after a year, a more relaxed Rahman would come up with something more mind boggling. Till then, I'm forced to listen to other MDs compositions (LOL!) and this post is just a small review of the latest tracks that have been released of late. Some of the tracks that keeps playing in my PMP in repeat mode are Yaathe Yaathe, Ayyayo and Otha sollale from Aadukalam; Mynaa Mynaa and Kayya Pudi from Mynaa. Like Rahman, Even Yuvan Shankar Raja has taken a pledge not to sing this year. I feel that except for the music, Yuvan tries so much to be like Rahman (which is impossible and Yuvan must learn that!!) Though En Nenjil from Baana Kaathadi give goosebumps, the other tracks in the album are just in a typical Yuvan's style. Harris Jeyaraj's Ko succeed in climbing up the chart with Ennamo Yeadho and Amali Thumali songs, but couldn't hit the top 10 list. I feel Harris have tried the same method of composition like did for his other films- A Bombay Jayashree song, a Chennai hip hop song, a soft song and a Pop song with lots of synth and bass. Ko has everything in it. I really wish some day he would change his composition pattern. Yuvan Shankar Raja's Pathinaaru and Baana Kaathadi was "just another Yuvan's album." Its only sometimes that a lightning strikes his head and he realises to come out of the box. All Yuvan's composition sounds almost the same to me. Once when i was humming one of his songs I was able to sing more than three songs with the same tune and unsurprisingly, all three songs were his compositions. Imman have outdone in his album "Mynaa." His idea of choosing Shaan to sing Mynaa Mynaa was a good one as his voice blend perfectly well with the song. Kayya Pudi, crooned by Naresh Iyer and Sadhna Sargam, is a soothing heart touching song. G.V.Prakash is coming up well with most of his albums hit the top 10 list (after all, he is our very own Rahman's cousin!! May be the effect??) I downloaded Ayyan when i learnt that it was Ilayaraja's composition. But it didn't impress me much and i felt its got his signature all over it, a typical Ilayaraja album. I liked Viduthalaikuyil Naan song from it because of Ilayaraja's magical voice. Devi Sri Prasad aka DSP (as he calls himself!) was lucky to have Kamal himself lending voice for most of the songs in Mammadhan Ambu. His Neela Vaanam tried to scramble up the chart with Kamal's mellifulous singing. Vidyasagar's Siruthai is in my PMP for Naan Rombo Nalla song as Ranjith's singing was flawless and also for the song itself.

People all over the world are waiting for the much awaited Rockstar soundtrack. It is confirmed that the album is going to be released in a couple of months as Rahman has already done with its background score. He has also composed a promotional song for the Malayalam film Lavender which is in filming now. Eagerly waiting for its release. Since Rahman is relaxing this year, I wish other MDs come up with good albums this year!

Coldly hot!

Its not been many days after writing a post on the awesomeness of Chennai climate, I've got something to rant under the same heading. Yes, Chennai's climate is steadily becoming more unpredictable. The temperature vacillates between the two extreme of the meter scale and baffles Chennai people. When i had to wipe off my sweat in the morning, not too long after it turns out to be a clement weather. The sun in the morning was burning my skin, while in the afternoon, when its supposed to smoulder, it rains! I wonder if its a preliminary indication of global warming. I came to know that it was raining outside when everyone in bay ran out to see it (No one actually couldn't believe!) That's when i ran along with them. I pray God almighty to make the world exist for a couple of more years as this is the time that a youngster like me goes to another level in life!! LOL!

An eye for an eye..

It was dark and he was all alone, with him. Damian chose the park bench which was right under a huge Banyan tree, to be unnoticed. It was a perfect place with a good vantage that had a full view of the park. The huge branches of the tree camouflages the bench that Damian was almost invisible in his black hooded track jacket. He was constantly gazing at him jogging around the park intermittently looking at his bowie knife which was still in its sheath so as to prevent it from reflecting light from its fine sharp blade. Saint Marys park is famous for the concealment from the outer world. The huge trees filters all kinds of pollutions and maintains a serene atmosphere in the park. Its overcrowded in the weekends but had very less people otherwise. The park becomes almost empty at its closing time. Damian has been observing and learning the regularities of the park. He has been watching him for weeks and now can predict his every move. It was 8:00pm and its been 15 minutes since he started gazing him. Anger and retaliation seethed within him which turned his eyes turn blood red. As every second passes, sequence of memories flash at the back of his head intensifying his anger. He gripped his bowie knife harder without taking his eyes out of him. He was incensed and his anger boiled when he saw him laughing while talking to someone over the phone. He wanted to take away his happiness forever. Memories flashes at the back of his head and a tear drop rolled down his eyes. He watched him jog faster now. He watched him appear and disappear under the golden lights in the park. He gripped his knife harder by its holder and waited for the right time. His anger engulfed his fear engendering retaliation. Being equally strong as him, his confidence shuddered. Gripping his knife harder, he took his hanky from his pocket, tied his hand tightly along with the kinfe so that it doesnt slip off his hand. His watch showed 8:12pm. His long wait had to pay off. He did not care about the repurcussions. He was wounded so deep that he couldnt be wounded any deeper. He watched him pass by everytime he finishes a round. He waited patiently in ambush to come across him the next round. He took his bowie knife out of its sheath and remained prepared. He didnt want to let down his promise he made to himself. He constructed his thoughts to do everything as planned. As he passed by him, Damian, with full rage, lunged from behind covering his mouth. He slit his throat with the knife tied to his hands and pushed him to the ground and sat on his chest, still having his hands on his mouth. He tried to push Damian down but the pain reduced his strength. He violently moved his body in pain which almost pushed Damian down, but he maintained to stay on him with his entire weight. The pressure he applied to stay over his chest broke his ribs. He enjoyed watching him die slowly with his blood oozing out from his throat. He gave another slit across his throat and watched him suffer the pain of death. The slit was powerful as the knife were tied to his hands. Damian, with an evil smile on his face, enjoyed every second of his death. He saw his eyes filled with tears and with blood scattered across his face. His violent movement then slowed down with his fully opened eyes slowly shutting down. Damian, without realizing he is dead with his throat half cut, feared that he might be saved and come alive. He looked around the park. Quitness prevailed, except for the crocking of insects. Wanting him to be dead forever, he took his knife, servered his throat, beheading him. A more contented and victorious Damian got up, looked one final look at his head, gave a peaceful smile at himself, unfurled his sleeves covering his blood stained hands and cautiously moved out of the place leaving the body under the golden light of the park.

With joy, sadness and fear equally mixed up, for a second Damian couldnt feel himself. He made sure no one noticed him while returning. Sitting in his study room in the dark with his boold stained hands, he felt peace. He switched on his table lamp to see the picture of his wife and his daughter more clearly, placed on his desk. He ran his fingers on the edges of the photograph, smiling at them. Reminded of something, he opened his desk drawer and tore the poloroid photograph which had a note written "Kill him" below it. He thrust his knife on the newspaper on his desk which had the headlines: "Mother and 12 year old daughter raped and killed. Criminal escapes."

After having a dozen sleeping pills, he went to bed with a hope that he would see his family again...

ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

Since now the Cricket World Cup fever is on, people go bonkers to do anything for a ticket. The ticket price is exponentially increasing as the D-day is getting closer. Tickets are now between 2000-3000 bucks and goes as high as up to 5000 bucks. I wonder why people have to spend so much to watch it live in the stadium cramped with thousands of people.

Despite the hassle while watching it live in the stadium, people seem to enjoy the match so much so that even if the world disintegrates, they give a damn about it!! For me, watching cricket at home is more comfy and enjoyable than watching it live in stadium. Who would say no if everything is shown live on TV in every possible angle and in case if you had missed the last ball would have a replay shown? There are people who wouldn't say no and I'm one among them. I would rather choose the ease and comfort of watching it from home (with friends, of course!) with relishing homemade goodies.

There is nothing that is allowed inside the stadium except just you. No cameras, no cellphones with cameras (like they have 200mm optical zoom!! Gosh!!) no snack items and not more than one water bottle! And they claim the restrictions is for "security reason!!!" Who would want to kill a cricketer with potato chips or with a water bottle? And even if someone did kill, how can he take a picture of it to put it up on Facebook when cameras are prohibited!??

Looking forward to the 2011 Cricket World Cup (just two days!!) and wish everyone who are watching it live in the stadium to return home safely without having your picture flash on the news under "stampede causalities." Be safe and have fun. And for my watching-it-on-TV nanbargal, make sure you've paid your cable bills. ;-)

Yuvan Shankar Raja's concert on Vijay TV!!!

While watching Yuvan's concert programme on Vijay TV two days back, my first thought was to rant about this on my blog! I wonder why his concert fiasco had to be shown on TV! Vijay TV is predominantly renowned for its TV shows jamboree, and for this "Yuvan concert," its needless to say!

The concert wasn't like a concert after all, rather it was more like a drama. That was pretty obvious when Yuvan droned about why actor/superstar/singer/director etc Simbu couldn't show up for the concert even after he invited him. Then all of a sudden Simbu shows up with hundreds of security guards flocked around him (Like someones gonna shoot him! Well, there are chances, cuz of his extreme acting!!!) and eventually after all the dramatics, he came to center of the stage on a moveable dais on the traverse stage (something like a conveyor belt). He was waving his hands (like a superstar! Oh gross! You know him!!) as this piece of stage moved to the center. He got down and started explaining why he wasn't able to come (the reason was that he had cold! God, Kill me!!!) and explained how he managed to show up planning it all in the last minute! Wow. Wonderful! For me he seemed like he was in the pink of health and seemed like he was planning this for days. Yuvan is good with music but worst in acting! He couldn't give that "surprised" expression on his face. It was more like a drama. Both Simbu and Yuvan isn't all good in singing when it comes to a live show. Now I admire the work of all the latest technologies in his songs, like auto tune and stuffs. Kudos!

Apart from all these dramatics, singers did their part real good. I loved Shankar Mahadevan's "Merke Merke" song performance. The aalap he sang at the end of the song was out of words to appreciate. Whenever a singer takes the stage, a fake cheering was played at the background (The fake cheering was pretty obvious! Hail Vijay TV!!!)

I wonder why Yuvan chose to sing "Where is the party" at the end. All the singers got on stage and sang "Where is the party" with Yuvan in the middle. Everyone was running around the stage, jumping off the stage, running towards the audience, lightmen, etc. For a moment, i was like "what the fuck is happening?" I called my friend Ram Vittal to know what the hell is really happening but even he was equally confused. Being his show, Yuvan wasn't lionized and seemed like he was mobbed. Then luckily they realised it was Yuvan's concert and he was lifted up by everyone. My friend on the other side of the phone was like "Shit macha.. Semma sothappals."

I never felt like watching a concert but it was more like watching Super Singer finals. As I've been to two of my thala Rahman's concerts, this one felt nothing (Obviously! Rahman is Rahman!!!!). People were orderly sitting and waving some posters unlike a real concert. I think the events were not properly planned and organized.

Yuvan, having been taken a step to prove himself, has to be appreciated. I wish he doesn't screw up (this bad) next time. All the best Yuvan!!!

A new sitcom on the list..

After watching Friends, Scrubs, a more regional sitcom is next on list. I came across a Malayalam sitcom called "Akkara Kazchakal" through my friend who shared an episode on Facebook. Though the show started long back in 2008, I came across it very recently now. The episode was funny and i was agog to watch all episodes. It has 50 episodes, everything very well directed. Though the actors are not professionally good enough to be appreciated, they are much better in how they are as themselves. After the show gained much popularity and got more viewership count, the team has decided to release a movie based on it. The group does a lot of stage shows and hence their TV show is on hiatus. The best thing about the show is that very episode is wrapped up good and would have a message in it. Every character is unique and have an ingenious funny nature. Having watched all its episodes, I'm now waiting for the next season and the most awaited Akkara Kazchakal movie. Meanwhile, I've downloaded South Park and will start watching it from today......

PS: Suggest some good Malayalam sitcoms if you know of any!

A wish for a change.......

Lately, Life seems to be really boring. With not much time to do anything, days seems to go by faster. I wish Saturday and Sunday have 48 hours each. Days between two Sunday seem very less and weekend seem to fly by even before I get a real buzz out of it. Office life seems to devour most of my personal life and hence need to cautiously balance between the two. There used to be a time when I used to sleep like a pig, hang out with friends like mad, watch 3 movies a day. I find no time to watch even one now. Used to have my friends around often, used to have a get together once in every week. Now do I have no updates on them. Have been long since I've even talked to them over phone. Things change. I need to be having a strict hold of everything. Wish things change!

Dezzzember 2010......!!!

Chennai's weather is stunning, cosying all Chennaites for the past four months. Due to my extra abdominal flab, i made sure i do the daily morning exercises. Now because of the comfy weather condition, it procrastinates. Six hours of sleep isn't sufficient enough for this weather that my body demands for more. Having my office two hours from home, travelling eats up four hours of glorious time every day. The morning fresh air and the cool breeze puts me to sleep in the bus but the traffic commotion, tailback vehicles honking and the smothering dust wakes me up at OMR. Though its not much sticky in the afternoons, the following summer heat can already be felt. I guess there is not many days left for the sweltering heat to come but we'd really miss the cool weather as this December, was not like any other December!

Story of a job hunter..

If you are one among the 2008 or 2009 passed out, then you must've known how hard was it to get a job then. And for a guy who is one among the 2009s and had a very weird preconceived opinion about getting a job, its even worse. I was someone who did not have any ambition to whom i wanna be. If you had asked me then, i would've said that i wanna become like A.R.Rahman. Pretty impossible. But i could've made that possible (Of course not like Rahman but at least a small time composer!) only if everything fell in place. Everything that interest me back in the day was music. So it was pretty obvious for me to choose the path i should be taking. For everything in life, there has to be a bad phase. Like the bad time that struck when i had to choose my career. It was when i went along with my brother for his Engineering admission, my Engineering admission was confirmed. How funny can that be? My focus was to get into Visual Communication but then everything changed when a she-devil cast an evil spell on my dad. She brainwashed him by prophesying her version of the future of VisCom students. It was that they had to shoot videos for marriage functions and nothing else. That's when my dad's conscience had to balance between my words and hers. And obviously, the experienced person wins. That too she was none other than the person responsible of my college placements.

Four years of Engineering was hell when it comes to studies but was fun otherwise. Every semester was like a war that i had to build a very strong heart to face every paper and so do for the results. For my parents, arrears in the very first semester was a pre cognitive notion that i would never graduate Engineering at all. It was hard to convince them that arrears are just a part of Engineering life (for us it was like an unofficial mandatory custom to have at least one. Mandatory? Well, arrears naturally comes our way!)

When God closes one door, he opens another (for all reasons!). He didn't want to see me struggling all alone. So he had gifted me an awesome set of friends and asked us to stay together since childhood. And they gave a helping hand when arrears fell like rain during my college days. It was one of my close friend Naveen and me who always used to study together. Like all other Engineering students, we dust off our books only during our study holidays. If there is 3 days preparation holiday, we would take our books the night before the exam. Our method of studying is different. We used to start studying at 10pm, each of us would complete 2 units in a book of 5 units, would finished it by 2am, do a knowledge transfer that goes till 5am. The rest one unit, would finish it on the way to exam. I still wonder how we used to clear the papers. Well after all, Engineering papers evaluation method is still a mystery.

As days went by, the biggest burden of placements started to petrify me. Not many companies come for placements in our college and being the year 2008, nothing really came. We had a very confused placement officer who knows nothing about anything. One day he would walk in to announce that L&T or TCS is coming, two days after he would walk in again to say it is not. This used to happen very often and then whenever he walks into our class, we never used to take his words seriously. It was one day he informed about Infosys placements. We never took it seriously as usual but we came to know Infosys is really coming from other outside sources. I started preparing but the preparation wasn't enough to clear Infosys aptitude test. The first 8 toppers from every two class of every department went home with their offer letter. Me, just went home with a heavy heart. We are 7 in our gang and 3 people got placed except me 2 more friends, and my brother (though he is far better than me and since just 2 companies came to our college, it was hard for him!!) My brother and two of his friends decided to start a small time web designing business till they get a job. I didn't wanna join them cuz i couldn't compete with their technical intelligence.
During my final year, i had a promise instilled in my mind that i should not have any backlogs cuz it would be hard for me to clear it then. Hence I needed more people's guidance. Its always easier to listen to someone explaining than learning it yourself (quick learning!) I used to go to some 5 of my friends house everyday for the knowledge transfer. It wasn't difficult to write what my friends explained and hence cleared all my final year papers (kudos to them!)

Graduated out of college with no job. It was then Nikith, another close friend of mine became my good companion for THE JOB HUNT. Every week we attended around 6-7 companies. Either we will not get selected or will it not be like a company at all. There was this one company called us for the interview and we couldn't find the company even after hours of intense search in that area. Later a tea shop owner helped us locate it. It was in one corner of a building terrace which had only two rooms- One to take interview and the other, a so-called 'workplace' which had only 3 computers.

After a very long search, i got into Allsec BPO and the other guy got into Cognizant BPO. I guess many 2008 and 2009 passed outs would've been in at least one BPO before joining an IT company. Allsec was one of the best BPOs. Had so much fun there and made lots of friends. My batch in Allsec seize to exist after 3 months cuz everyone in my batch were Engineers and everyone absconded when they got a job cuz that's when IT field started to come up. Many of them got into big IT companies except me. I listened to my friends' advice that i wont be able to find a job being in a BPO, night shift. After leaving Allsec, i again started my job hunt, this time, all alone.

Everything changed one night when i went to my brother's office for night stay. My brother and his two friends started asking me about my future plans and made me realize that i wont get a job unless i gain some technical knowledge. All of a sudden it was like a star of wisdom shone above my head and showed me a road to travel when i was stuck in pitch dark. I started learning the basics of few technologies and prepared myself to face any interview and come out with an offer letter. My brother was smart enough to get into Systech solutions but i got stuck right at the technical round. It was then Shaan, a HR working in Systech, helped me out and gave me a chance to attend the final round straight away. Still, my preparation wasn't enough for them as their expectations were more. I started to think if i would ever get a job. It was then my friend told me about the Cognizant recruitment. It was a mere joke for me when he asked me to attend the interview cuz for me, companies like Cognizant, Infosys, L&T, etc were like Microsoft, Google, Facebook. Imagine where Microsoft, Google, Facebook are.? They are not even in my list. After so much advice from my brother and friends i just wanted to give it a shot. Luckily, I cleared all rounds (even the 2 rounds technical interview, each 40 mins!!! Can you imagine??) I felt "joy" within me, churn out with vibrant spectrum of colors. I wanted to thank Shaan for trying so hard to get me into Systech. Nothing can be equivalent for her timely help but bought her a big bar of chocolate as a token of thankfulness (I had to insist her to take it. And Choco?? Well, money constrain!! :P) I also wanted to thank the VP for rejecting me there which had me get into One of the World's Fastest Growing IT Companies In The World.

Life after college is so different. Hope this post would've tingled a reminiscence of your past struggles to get a job (strictly for guys of my type!!) Its time that i had to add Google and Microsoft in my list.... LOL!!
